Sarah Benson is originally from Dryden, Ontario, Treaty No. 3 Territory of the Anishinaabeg and home to the Northwestern Ontario Métis Community. She currently resides in Ottawa, Ontario, the unceded territory of the Algonquin Nation.

Sarah earned a Master of Arts in History from the University of Saskatchewan, and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Ottawa. Her interests in intercultural relations and community studies inform her research work at HCG.

Sarah’s expertise is in twentieth-century rural Canadian history, with a specific focus on Saskatchewan and Northwestern Ontario. She has been involved in several academic projects dedicated to First Nations and Métis histories.

Outside of work, Sarah enjoys reading, playing guitar, and spending time outdoors.
